It was a bit of choice stress, but these are really the places that make me very happy to relax & eat:
1. OMAKASE BY WALT: By now a friend, and what a passion that man has! Thanks to his dedication, he earned a Michelin star. Eating at Walt is truly an experience: you stand on the street and think “am I in the right place?” – it’s that hidden. But once you step inside, you find yourself in a minimalist Japanese speakeasy where you are completely immersed in Japanese tradition. Pure seasonal class, down to the smallest detail. He uses only locally caught fish.
2. IBIZA FOOD STUDIO BY BORIS BUONO: We’ve known Boris for years, and every time it’s a celebration to eat here. He also has Bistro Mondo a bit further north – also top! But here, in his Ibiza Food Studio, you’re really in a kind of food paradise, hidden in a rougher corner of the island. Boris is such a “crazy in the coconut” type, but in the best way possible: rock-n-roll, passionate, seasonal to the bone and always full of flavor. You sit in an open kitchen, it’s small and romantic, with a vibe that is just right. The wine selection? Always on point. There’s also a terrace upstairs!
3. GASTROBOAT WITH PEPITA AND TONI: Really a dream day at sea, with incredibly delicious food from start to finish! Toni is a fisherman and captain, Pepita the warm hostess – two locals with hearts of gold. Toni takes you to an idyllic bay, where you can snorkel, swim, or just chill in the sun. And in the meantime… eat, eat, eat! Everything is super fresh, pure, and generous – so definitely leave with an empty stomach. Nothing fancy or hip, just old school enjoying with lovely people and honest flavors. One of my favorite outings on the island!
4. CAN BALAFIA: A true institution on the island! No menu, no fuss – just the tastiest tomato salad with local chips, aioli to die for (homemade of course), and then choose which piece of meat goes on the grill. Simple, pure, and always delicious!
5. BON SOL: We’ve been coming here since Grace was not yet born! Down to earth Italian on the beach of Cala Vadella. First a pizza to share, then a pasta and that lovely salad with orange, carrot, and fennel. And of course a negroni. This is really our spot.
6. CAN MUSON: Are you located more centrally on the island? Perfect place to go for breakfast! Everything is delicious and homemade, and I also do my shopping there: top farm shop full of fresh, local products. It doesn’t get more authentic than this!
7. AGUAMADERA: The hotel offers a beautiful setting and location, designed as a refuge for nature, gastronomy, and art. It's the perfect place to unwind, enjoy conversations under a starry sky, and stay in beautiful rooms. Aguamadera is a true recommendation for anyone wanting to experience the pure Ibiza!
8. SUPUN: On the road from Sant Josep to Ibiza. A new, small, cozy bao, noodle & sake bar where the baos are homemade, and you can enjoy delicious slurping of ramen, bao buns, or even gratinated oysters, all perfectly paired with the best sake. You sit at the bar or at the tables, and there is also a terrace!
9. CAN PILOT: A local favorite that we go back to every time. You choose your piece of meat, fries, and mushrooms at the bar. You get a grill on the table and cook it yourself! Roquefort sauce or pepper sauce? Simple, generous, and so delicious – you definitely won't leave here hungry!
10. NUDO: Delicious, beautiful, and right on the beach! I always go for the chef’s cut: a whole fish that they divide into different pieces, cooked with a lot of fire and flair. Truly rock-n-roll, with a kitchen team full of international chefs. And after eating? Relaxing on the beach – blissful, right!
BONUS: Sipping cocktails at Juls Ibiza: An incredibly beautiful place, with a shop as well. The gourmet cocktails here are truly BEYOND.
