THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE
That you click on 'About me' means that you want to get to know me better and that makes me genuinely happy.
We are already halfway friends 🥰💛
In my world, everything revolves around the ingredient, the seasons, and making people happy. Cooking is for me the most beautiful way to give love, to let someone feel that you care about them, without saying a single word. Whether you are an experienced foodie or just starting out: you are in the right place. It's all about inspiration and hopefully, you will then make my recipe completely your own, with your own twist and creativity.
Lady chef of the year!
No one in my family was in the restaurant world. And yet.
My grandmothers were my first chefs. Everything homemade: bread, pâté, stews, cakes. I carry that love for craftsmanship with me every day.
We Flemish people live to eat. Seeing people enjoy at a filled table. That desire took me to hotel school, a specialization year in pastry, and an internship at Wittamer in Brussels.
After that, I opened Les Eleveurs, and in 2009 I was elected Best Female Chef of Belgium.
LOVE IN THE OVEN
Next to the restaurant, there has always been baking.
For me, baking is the most honest craft there is... you can't lie with bread dough 😉
The smell of a freshly baked cake filling the kitchen, the moment you cut into a perfectly risen brioche and the inside is still lightly steaming, those are the little moments of happiness that count.
With 'Goe Gebakken' on Vier, I brought Flanders massively behind the mixing bowl,
and I still do, because baking is really for everyone.
Around 2010, I rolled into the media: first with a radio program on MNM, then for the TV screen. You might know me from 'Goe Gebakken' or 'De Keuken van Sofie', which was on your screen daily for five years. Or from 'Grillmasters' from RTBF, my weekly recipe column in HLN and in Deuzio, or my appearances on radio Vivacité.
But what I really wanted was to be closer to my audience. Not just on a screen, but really in your kitchen. That's why I've been building an online community for over ten years: hundreds of thousands of people on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, who get started with my recipes every day.
I want to show that cooking deliciously doesn't have to be complicated. That the tastiest dishes start with good ingredients and a bit of enthusiasm.
GRACE & CHILD CANCER FOUNDATION
Besides being a chef, I am also a very proud mom of Grace. In 2013, I became a mom to Grace, and my kitchen changed forever. I try to let her eat as healthily as possible, but I am not a sergeant. Sometimes I let go, because a happy child counts more than a perfect plate.
Healthy and tasty go hand in hand. That’s what I show in my book series 'On the Grow'. With that series about food for children I won an international Gourmand World Cookbook Award, one of the greatest recognitions of my career.
Because I am a mom and know how vulnerable children can be, I also hold the KiKa fund (Child Cancer Fund) dear to my heart. A good cause that is close to me.
RESPECT FOR NATURE & CRAFT
Sustainability is not a hashtag for me. It starts with knowing what is on your plate and where it comes from.
Every month I stand in the field with my regular organic farmer Tijs: mud on my boots, sun on my face, and I learn more about which vegetable is in season that month. That knowledge, just like that of my grandmothers, must not be lost. It is too precious.
Eating locally and seasonally, zero-waste cooking, choosing quality and fair products. Those are not rules for me, but simply how it should be.

MORE THAN JUST COOKING: A LIFESTYLE
Cooking is my passion, but I also love fashion, traveling, and feeling good in my skin. Self-care and self-love are important to me, and I want to be a role model for young people and women who want to enjoy without guilt!
It's not about dieting or perfection, but rather about balance, loving yourself, and especially doing what makes you happy. That’s why I take you not only into the kitchen but also behind the scenes of my life: family, travel, lifestyle, and more.
What inspires me?
The ingredient.
If someone craves mussels, but it’s March, then I look for what the market does have. The most beautiful vegetables, the freshest catch, the best cheese of the season. My creativity runs at full speed when I see and smell beautiful products. That’s how I work. That’s how I have worked for years.
I have the best job in the world. I get to taste all the time, create all the time, and make people happy.
Every day again.
