Hutsepot is grandmother's cooking. This stew with lots of vegetables is made even tastier here with the lesser-known cuts of pork.

1.2 L pork or chicken broth (pork broth recipe)

Preparation method

How do you make this?

Sauté the chopped onions in the lard.

Add the celery and sliced leek, let it stew.

Meanwhile, peel the carrots, turnips, parsnip, and potatoes, add them, and season with pepper and salt.

Add plenty of thyme and bay leaf and add the ribs and shank.

Pour the broth over it and let it simmer gently for at least 1h30 min.

Remove the meat; you can mash the vegetables finer with a masher if you want, but it's not necessary.

Serve a good scoop of hutsepot on the plates along with a piece of ham and ribs, and finish with some flat-leaf parsley.

Serve with strong mustard.
