Orange spiced coffee

Easy

This is such a coffee to really slow down and enjoy a wonderful moment, just for yourself. The art of doing nothing. The scent of orange and warm spices makes this cup of coffee just that little bit more special. And believe me: it doesn't get simpler than this.

Make it veggie!

This recipe is naturally vegetarian and vegan. If preferred, use maple syrup or agave syrup instead of honey for a completely vegan version.

Preparation method

How do you make this?

Fill the lower reservoir of your moka pot (classic Italian stovetop coffee maker) with water up to the valve and pour into the lower reservoir.

Place the funnel on top and first put the orange slice at the bottom. Then add the freshly ground coffee and smooth it out evenly without pressing it down.

Place the star anise, cardamom pods (slightly bruised), cloves, and half a vanilla bean on top of the coffee.

Tightly screw the coffee maker shut and place it on a medium heat.

After about 1 minute, the coffee will start to brew, and your kitchen will fill with a delightful aroma.

Remove from heat as soon as the bubbling stops. Pour into a cup and finish with honey to taste.

Tips

  • Use freshly ground coffee for the best taste experience
  • Lightly crush the cardamom pods to release their aroma better
  • Do not leave the coffee on the heat for too long to avoid burning
  • Vary with spices such as cinnamon or a piece of ginger
  • This coffee is best drunk immediately fresh or, when cooled, delicious over ice!
