My favorite places in Marrakech

Wow guys, Marrakech… what a place!

As soon as you get there, you feel it: everything is buzzing, everything is alive! The smell of freshly ground spices in the souks, mountains of shiny dates, jars full of marinated olives… You just don’t know where to look first. Every five meters you come across something that you want to grab, taste or just admire.

So don't forget to take an empty suitcase with you!

And the good news: they can usually send all those nice things (think: tableware, baskets, carpets, etc.) to your home!

For those who want to go to Marrakech themselves (or are just curious), I will first share a few practical tips below: from paying to taxis, what to wear and how to get the most out of your trip.

Then I'll take you to all my fav spots! Eating, drinking, swimming, getting lost and enjoying - all nicely listed so you can easily choose.

I hope you will be as immersed in the real Marrakech as I was…

Let's go peeps – here come my tips!

my spots in marrakech

FOOD & DRINKS

KESH CUP: For a quick coffee on the go in the medina.

THIRTY5IVE: Delicious coffee and freshly baked treats.

DAR EL BACHA: My favorite breakfast spot! Their viennoiseries and almond milk with orange blossom are top-notch. Be there at 9:40 to avoid waiting times.

CAFÉ DES ÉPICES: Perfect place to people-watch from the rooftop terrace. Definitely try the granola.

LOCAL SPOT OF PLACE DES ÉPICES: Go before 10 AM to the center of the square and look for the table with locals. Order “bissara” and eat among the locals.

BLUE RIBBON BAKERY: The first sourdough bakery in Marrakech.

LA FAMILLE: Light lunch, only by reservation. Surprising salads and a chocolate-peanut cake that you must not miss.

LE JARDIN: ideal for lunch or dinner by candlelight, close to la famille.

LE FOUNDOUK: Traditional Moroccan restaurant in a beautiful interior.

NOMAD: Request a table on the rooftop and enjoy the view over the medina.

L'MIDA: Be sure to try to get a spot on the roof.

EL FENN: Chic rooftop dining spot with impressive views.

FOUNDOUK GARGAA: Quiet oasis near jemaa el fnaa. Ideal for a quick snack during the day.

OTTO: Trendy rooftop bar and restaurant.

BAB LAKHMIS: Tiny place with only two dishes: lhadis (lentils) and lubya (white beans). A tip to feel like a true local is to eat among the locals!

KASBAH DISTRICT: Charcoal grill with mixed brochettes. Be sure to ask for tomato sauce and olives on the side

FARMERS: Farm-to-table concept with fresh products

SAHBI SAHBI: Save room for dessert, huge and delicious

AZALAI URBAN SOUK: Looks promising, still on my list

MIZAAN: Fusion cuisine, not tested yet

AL FASSIA: Traditional Moroccan cuisine

BEY 196: Quick and tasty Lebanese cuisine

SHTATTO ROOFTOP: Trendy rooftop vibes

BAROMETRE: Creative cocktail bar in Gueliz

PIU PIU: Relaxed place for drinks

LE PÉTANQUE SOCIAL CLUB: Aperitif under the trees or cozy by the fireplace

INTERIOR & LIFESTYLE

LALY MARRAKESH: Boho vibes with color and character

FUNKY COOL MEDINA : Funky and original offer

LRNCE: Iconic design with Moroccan influences

LALLA MARRAKESH: Luxury bags and accessories

MORO CONCEPT STORE: Trendy and modern

SOUFIANE ZARIB: The Rolls Roce of carpets! Two showrooms full of soft beni ourains and graphic vintage carpets, real pure carpet art.

SANA BEN ZAITAR: Rugs with a twist. Modern, colourful designs with a feminine and contemporary touch

THE ROOTS CORNER: Charming interior pieces and unique finds with a crafted look. From characterful chairs to mood makers with a story. A carefully composed mix of handmade and vintage, recycled gems that give soul to any room.

LA MAISON NOMADIQUE: Where art and interior merge. At La Maison Nomadique you will find handmade objects full of simplicity, nature and style – carefully selected, each piece imbued with character. We bought a vase and a frame: little pearls that immediately bring warmth and soul into your home.

Behind this place is Sig Coco , an artist from Ghent with a heart of gold. Belgian, dog lover par excellence, and a true nomadic soul. She surrounds herself with art, character pieces and a pack of dogs that she lovingly takes care of. You can just feel it - in every object, every detail.

"A Soufiane carpet is not just any carpet, it is truly the Rolls-Royce of carpets"

COOL DOWN

BELDI COUNTRY CLUB: My ultimate favorite! Large pool, shaded by olive trees, wonderfully quiet. Perfect for a whole day of relaxation.

EL FENN ROOFTOP POOL: By reservation only and only in low season. But what a view! Floating with a view of the city and mountains = dream.

TO SLEEP

BERBER LODGE : Berber Lodge, that's really a place where you enter and immediately relax. Just outside Marrakech, between the olive trees, you will find simplicity, charm and warmth in every stone and every detail. We slept in a lodge made of clay and wood, ate from the garden and enjoyed the silence. Authentic, pure and so atmospheric - I want to go back already.

OPTIMAL ORGANIZATION

PAY

Cash is king in Marrakech! Many smaller establishments do not accept cards, so bring plenty of dirhams. There are ATMs in both the medina and gueliz.

WIFI & INTERNET

Wifi is not reliable everywhere. Want to be sure of coverage? Buy a local SIM card with data at the airport or in a telecom shop.

TAXIS

Take an official petit taxi and agree on a price in advance or make sure the meter is on. For longer journeys or excursions: Arrange a private driver through your accommodation

CLOTHING

Grace and I wear covering , airy clothing . Not only to protect ourselves from the bright sun , but also out of respect for the local culture . We choose skirts that reach below the knees , cover our shoulders and leave the short skirts at home. This way we feel comfortable and show respect for the environment we are in.

health & safety

Marrakech feels safe, even at night. As in any city, watch your belongings in busy markets. It is best not to drink tap water . Buy bottled water and avoid ice cubes if in doubt

NEGOTIATE

In the souks , bargaining is a real part of the experience . Grace and I threw ourselves into it: a bit of haggling, a bit of laughing, and above all, staying friendly . It almost became a game, and so we not only had fun , but we also scored a few nice finds !

Whether you come for the atmosphere, the flavors or those beautiful fabrics and carpets – Marrakech has a vibe that gets under your skin. Everything there lives with such passion. I am super curious what your favorite spot would be from this list. Let me know!
