Easy

This ginger and grapefruit spritz with mint is definitely my go-to drink on hot days, or when I have guests! Refreshing, zesty, thirst-quenching, with no added sugar and, above all, wonderfully invigorating. I often make this when I just fancy something extra tasty without too much faff. Yes, for me, that lovely ginger juice from the Pajottenland is absolutely the best; I always have ginger in the house, but freshly squeezed like this, with no additives, it really is the best and truly ‘from my corner’, as I like to say. Simple, pure and bursting with flavour. Sometimes that’s all you need. Cheers to summer!

Preparation method

How do you make this?
  1. Slice the lemon into thin slices and divide them between 2 large glasses or jugs.
  2. Add the mint leaves to the glasses.
  3. Use a muddler or pestle to gently crush the lemon and mint so that all the fresh aromas are released.
  4. Fill the glasses generously with crushed ice.
  5. Pour 1 to 2 tablespoons of ginger juice over the ice in each glass.
  6. Do you like it a bit spicier? Feel free to add more.
  7. Pour in the grapefruit juice and top up with sparkling water until the glasses are nicely filled.
  8. Garnish with extra mint, a straw and a stirrer.
  9. Serve immediately, ice-cold and deliciously refreshing.

Tips

  • Prefer something a bit sweeter? Finish it off with a little honey or agave syrup.
  • Don’t have any crushed ice to hand? Wrap some ice cubes in a kitchen towel and tap them with a rolling pin.
  • It’s also delicious with a slice of lime for extra freshness.
  • Fancy making an aperitif version? A splash of prosecco instead of sparkling water goes perfectly with this.
