Healthy Snack tray for Four o'clock

Easy

That hungry look after a school day? We all know it. Straight to the drawer searching for candy or chips! Recognizable, duh! I try to organize myself as well as possible so that they have something quick, healthy, and appealing ready around four o'clock. This snack plate with whole grain bread with peanut butter & jam, fresh raw veggies, and a creamy hummus dip is such a lifesaver. Everything is finger food, so perfect to eat while emptying the school bag. Bonus: you can prepare a lot of things in advance, so no stress every day!

For the peanut butter jam toasts

2 slices of whole grain bread
1 tsp strawberry jam
1 tsp pure unsweetened peanut butter

 Carrot sticks
Cucumber sticks
Bell pepper strips (red/yellow)
Some sliced radishes
Endive stalks
Celery

For the dip A few tablespoons hummus

Preparation method

How do you make this?
  1. Push a heart shape into the 2 brown toast slices; when you have that toast, you have a nice heart pattern, one toast goes with jam of your choice, and the other with pure peanut butter
  2. Scoop the hummus into a small bowl and drizzle some olive oil on top
  3. Stick strips of cut vegetables into a bag ready for dipping
  4. Fill 2 other jars with nuts, dried fruit, and some red fruit

Tips

  • Pre-batch tip: On Sunday or Monday, cut a supply of vegetable sticks and store them in a sealed box with a damp paper towel at the bottom, this way they stay fresh for 3 days and you'll be ready quickly on D-day.
  • Preparing to make it kid-proof: Let children assemble their own sandwiches or choose their favorite vegetables.
