Preheat your grill machine.
Place the first slice of bread on a board and top it with 2 slices of fontina.
Place 2 or 3 slices of Parma ham and a spoonful of Bolognese sauce on top
Finish with 2 more slices of fontina and cover with the second slice of bread.
Repeat for the second Croque.
Place in the grill, select the croque option and bake until the cheese has melted and the bread is golden brown and crispy.
Remove the croque from the oven and place some extra Bolognese sauce on each one.
Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and lightly toast the cheese with a Bunsen burner for the ultimate finish.
Tips
- Don't have a Bunsen burner at home? Place the croquette briefly under the broiler of your oven.
- Vary the bread: sourdough bread or a hearty nut bread adds extra character.
- Prefer something a bit spicier? Sprinkle some chili flakes over it before caramelizing the cheese.
- Make extraBolognese sauceand freeze them in portions, so you always have a supply on hand.
