The Good Food label is a fantastic recognition for restaurants or canteens that want to share the same passion and story. The label, coordinated by Leefmilieu Brussel, aims to support and distinguish sustainable hospitality businesses. When you see this label on a restaurant or canteen, it means they follow the principles of the Good Food strategy: they promote the consumption of local and seasonal products, offer dishes with less but quality animal proteins, have a vegetarian option, choose food products that respect both the environment and the producers, and strive for less food waste.
THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING
I went to take the proof in the pudding and had lunch at Horia, which describes itself as an 'oriental natural eatery', a mix between Moroccan and Lebanese. Yes, hello, that already sounds good. Located in the area of the Sint-Gorikshallen, in a street diagonally opposite the Ancienne Belgique. A nice, colorful no-nonsense setting with, indeed, the Good Food Label on the front window!
We immediately get choice stress, because everything sounds delicious. So let’s see what the neighbors are eating, and that looks super tasty too. Alright, focus! We choose hummus, the couscous with merguez, and the Horia platter which has a bit of everything. When everything arrives at the table, it’s already a feast for the eyes: plates bursting with vegetables and overflowing with aromas and colors. And then the taste of everything, oh my, delicious!
I ask if I can speak to the chef, and hooray, as the cherry on the cake, it’s a woman! Yay, Isabelle runs the menus and kitchen with her team. I give her my enthusiastic, honest opinion. She beams, and we finish with homemade pastries, coffee, and tea. Divine!
