The easiest and healthiest recipe to make applesauce without additives. Use Jonagold apples for natural sweetness. Enjoy!

Put the water in a saucepan.
Wash the apples well if you plan to make apple cider vinegar (link) with the peels.
Peel the apples, cut them into quarters, remove the core, and cut them into large pieces.
Add the apple pieces to the pot and set over medium heat with the lid on.
Let the apples simmer for 15-20 minutes until they are soft.
Use a whisk for chunky applesauce or a blender for smooth applesauce.
If you want a variation in taste, you can combine different apple types. Add a cinnamon stick while simmering for an extra flavor dimension. Serve the apple sauce hot or cold, depending on your preference.
